    Dear fellow Colonial Australia researchers

Thanks to those of you who have been in touch offering to contribute to our Unruly Rural Rush meeting in March.

We’ve got good coverage across our continent so there will be a variety of experiences to hear about.

However, we’re still looking for stories about rural towns folk - maybe you have a doctor, lawyer, newspaper editor, sextant, clergyman, banker, butcher or baker in your family.

If so, we’d love to include your ancestor’s story.

    Please email us on colonialaustgroup@gmail.com

Our next meeting is on 1 June and we're looking at Diggers, robbers and getters.

Gold fever infected many colonial families. Was yours one of them?

Or maybe your family was connected to bushrangers. Did they help or hinder the bushrangers? Maybe now is the time to confess!

A timber getters life was lonely, hard and dangerous. And a bullockies life was just as dangerous. Did a member of your family suffer horrendous injuries working with timber?

If you have a story in your family about diggers, robbers or getters we’d love to hear from you. We’re looking for people to make short contributions at our meeting. Or if you’d prefer, send your family’s story to us and we’ll circulate it to our members after the meeting.
