I'm very interested to know how you can "confirm that Henry Brown, who was a Bega blacksmith from about 1867 to 1899,  is an alias for Heinrich Kussner born on the 19th October 1845 at Vielbrun,  Michelstadt Germany", please?

My grandmother Dorothy Lillian Brown was Henry Brown's grand daughter - her father was Charles Edward Brown (4th son). Family 'law' had it that Henry jumped shipped (with a compatriot) at Eden NSW having fought in the American Civil War. Henry and his friend walked to Bega - a considerable distance. We thought he was born in Darmstadt, Germany. Anyway there are a number of references to Henry in TROVE. One him saving a neighbour whose skirt had caught on fire.

Happy to be contacted by email family@treeston.com

I can now confirm that Henry Brown, who was a Bega blacksmith from about 1867 to 1899,  is an alias for Heinrich Kussner born on the 19th October 1845 at Vielbrun,  Michelstadt Germany.

For clarity I am creating a new topic with a title Henry Brown/Kussner to update the brickwall presentation I made on the 14th October 2023.

    Best Regards,

    Hi Jim,

Henry Brown was my mother's patrial grandfather who had a blacksmith's business in Bega.

    A family bible's flyleaf records Henry's birthday as 19 October 1845.

He lists his birthplace on his children's birth certificates as Hessen Darmstadt which is a SW region of Germany.

Family history research by an earlier Brown generation believed Brown was an alias and his name could be Loehr.

It was thought the names of Henry's parents were Lawrence and Margaret based on the names given to his eldest son and daughter

viz Lawrence Frederick and Margaret Catherine.

the Loehrs in Minnesota showed in Ancestry whilst I was searching names in the SAG Library.

I was hoping to find when the Minnesota Loehrs arrived in the US.

    Best Regards

    Ian
