    For Alberta vital statistics:

    https://provincialarchives.alberta.ca/how-to/find-birth-marriage-and-death-records

you get the file number and then you can order a copy of the document for $5.25 Cdn.

for British Columbia (I list this one best as it's records are the most current:

    https://royalbcmuseum.bc.ca/bcarchives/what-we-have/family-history-genealogy

this one takes you to a copy of the actual document for about 95% of the records.  For any other records that are listed, you can ask the archivist to find the document and send you a copy.

    For Manitoba Vital Statistics

if you are looking for newspaper articles, etc. on your ancestors in the Prairie Provinces (Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba)

Ontario is a large province and there are a lot of sites so would need to know what area someone was searching in but this is the one I used the most because some of my ancestors settled in the Kitchener Waterloo area:

The Passenger Search database on www.statueofliberty.org allows  you to look for family members who arrived at Ellis Island from 1820 to 1957. Nearly 65 million passenger records are available for searching, and while some passenger records are more complete than others, the  information may reveal name, age, date of arrival, ship name, nationality, birthplace, occupation, last residence overseas, and final destination - some even have information about how many bags a passenger had, the amount of money they carried, and where they stayed on the ship.

Chronicling America - Historic America Newspapers contains millions of digitised newspaper pages from 1777-1963 covering many US states and territories. Sponsored jointly by the National Endowment for the Humanities and the Library of Congress, new batches of data from partner institutions are regularly added.
