POSTPONED Session from 27 May.

We have all heard of the scams and tricks that can happen online. In this course you will learn some tips to stay safer online. Avoiding tricks and scams can be as simple as following a few simple steps: be careful, go slowly, and always be on the look out for warning signs.

Following this general overview, participants will then be guided to learn about phishing scams. This type of scam comes in many forms, but all the forms have one thing in common: they pretend to look legitimate to trick you into falling for the scam. Learn about the most common types of phishing scams, how to identify them and, how to avoid being scammed in this way. You’ll also learn what to do if you think you have been the victim of a phishing scam.

Delivered online by Andrew Redfern, a trained educational IT specialist, this course will be highly practical and hands on, paced appropriately to the members of the group.

This course is FREE, being delivered as part of the BeConnected Program, an Australian government initiative committed to increasing the confidence, skills and online safety of older Australians.

These sessions are aimed at those aged 50 years and over, however anyone who would like to improve their digital literacy is welcome to register.

Max: 20 Participants
