Description

A Master Index to the Quarto Series of the Huguenot Society of Great Britain & Ireland (PDF format). The Huguenots, the Protestants of France, have a long history of suffering, persecution and exile. Between about 1550 and 1750 more than 200,000 of them fled France to seek religious freedom in other countries. At least 50,000 settled in England and Ireland. Since its formation in 1885 the Huguenot Society of Great Britain and Ireland has published 61 volumes of primary records, including all surviving Huguenot church registers for England and Ireland, naturalization records up to 1800, charity records and some wills. This Master Index is a compilation of all the indexes of all these volumes, and as such will be a useful tool to Huguenot researchers world-wide. It can be used in conjunction with the Quarto series volumes (many of which are now on CD-ROM) or as a stand-alone aid to anyone wanting to know about family names in the Huguenot records. This CD consists of PDF files which can ve viewed by any computer using Adobe Acrobat Reader (free). The data on this CD is completely self-contained and requires no installation. Compiled by Cecile Ramsay-Sharp and Robert Nash Published by the Huguenot Society of Australia, 2014, in association with the Society of Australian Genealogists and the Huguenot Society of Great Britain and Ireland. The Quarto Series is available in the Library of the Society of Australian Genealogists at 2/379 Kent Street, Sydney - see Library Catalogue for other titles you may be interested in.
